By Bianca Geli

From being powerful contenders of reality singing competition The Clash Season 1, the girls of XOXO -- Riel Lomadilla, Dani Ozaraga, Lyra Micolob, and Mel Caluag are finally soaring higher with their self-titled first single, "XOXO."

Dani said in a media conference on September 8, "Sobrang happy po namin kasi finally, sobrang tagal po namin itong hinintay and finally mag-rerelease na kami ng single this September 10.

Riel admitted that though they are nervous, positive feedback from their fans gives them encouragement.

"First of all super thankful and happy po kami kasi mare-release na 'yung matagal naming hinahantay. Kinakabahan po kami kasi hindi namin alam kung ano 'yung kakalabasan, kung mainit ba 'yung pagtanggap ng tao.

"Pero so far po sa Twitter narinig na po nila 'yung teaser and maganda naman po 'yung feedback."

The group's first song is an upbeat pop song showcasing the girls top vocals.

Lyra shared, "Maririnig niyo na 'yung first song namin na dream song namin. Sana maraming maka-relate, it's a powerful song.

Mel recalled how their song was supposed to be released earlier but got pushed back because of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Yung pandemic lang po talaga 'yung nakaharang sa pag-release ng song pero ngayon po kahit may pandemic pa rin we're ready to go."

XOXO symbolizes female empowerment and body positivity through their strong image. Each member represents different parts of the Philippines -- Mel hails from Bulacan, Dani is a proud Cebuana, Riel comes from Cagayan de Oro, and Lyra is from Davao.
