EXCLUSIVE: Luis Hontiveros asked Rocco Nacino, Gil Cuerva for advice before transferring to GMA-7

Luis Hontiveros's network transfer last July may be less ideal, since we are still grappling with the effects of COVID-19. But he feels very fortunate that GMA Network and GMA Artist Center opened the doors for him to become a Kapuso.

In our exclusive chat with the actor-model last October 21, Luis shared that he prefers to look at the silver lining, despite the negative impact of this coronavirus pandemic.

He told GMANetwork.com, “My experience bilang Kapuso, like what you said, kahit nagka-pandemic I'm very grateful sa blessing na to, sa opportunity na 'to. Napaka-swerte ko rin na kahit may pandemic I was still able to secure, you know, this contract with the Kapuso Network.

“And I'm very, very thankful for that kahit na medyo mabagal ang industriya natin ngayon mag-pick up, mostly ang trabaho ganito zoom interviews. I'm still okay and I'm still very grateful.

“And I know there will be brighter days ahead.”

Before transferring networks, Luis spent three years with the Kapamilya network. Although it was hard for him to say goodbye to the people he worked with there, they completely understand his decision to become a Kapuso and to explore a different environment.

“Saying goodbye to my previous family, like with other family naman, whatever field you come from, I think mahirap din magpaalam.

“Tumagal din ako doon ng three years at nakabuo din ako ng mga meaningful at napakaraming magagandang relationships with my handlers, with my road managers, and my co-actors.

“And everyone else na nakatrabaho ko from prod to tech, lahat, I'm very grateful for each of those experiences and relationships na nabuo ko.”

He added, “And 'yung paglipat ko, though malungkot and medyo mahirap 'yung transition they completely understand naman, kasi we are all creatives.”

“We need that sense of freedom and we need that sense of inspiration and sometimes it has to happen outside [in] a different space di ba, different environment.” Luis said.

In addition, the dashing Kapuso heartthrob even revealed exclusively to GMANetwork.com that he asked for advice from his friends Rocco Nacino and Gil Cuerva about his plans of transferring networks.

Rocco was Luis's batchmate on StarStruck, while Gil is a friend way before they got into show business.

“I have friends like Rocco Nacino and Enzo Pineda isa sa mga batchmates ko sa StarStruck before. And isa sa mga recent na Kapuso na lumipat si Jon Lucas at isa pang friend ko na before showbiz pa, si Gil Cuerva.

“So nagtanong talaga ako kung paano nga ang dynamics, paano 'yung experiences nila bilang Kapuso and it was all positive.

“So I was very optimistic sa paglipat ko and [what] made it easier [is] mga tulong nila: sa mga tips and advices nila.”
