Hours after the airing of the Miss Universe Philippines competition on GMA-7, host KC Montero received backlash from netizens after his "rude" conversation with Miss Bohol Pauline Amelicnkx.

After the show's airing last Sunday, October 25, KC immediately clarified that his conversation with Pauline actually lasted for a couple of minutes but was cut down to a few seconds due to airtime constraints.

“Just a heads up, the exchange between Ms. Bohol and me was edited,” he wrote on Twitter.

“The exchange was actually a couple of minutes more of us joking with each other. Unfortunately, it was cut and edited for time.”

After hearing the news, Miss Bohol came to KC's defense and even described him as a “great and engaging host.”

“Apparently, @kcmontero has been getting so much backlash on how our convo on stage went,” she wrote in an Instagram Story, as shared by KC.

“Please let me put this out there. KC is a great and engaging host. We had a small talk on stage before the Q&A, which helped me take a breath and calm my nerves before answering the question.

“That part was indeed cut short for airtime.”

Pauline continued, “Regardless, what he said in response to me, asking how he was doing, was just to humor me. No harm done in my eyes.

“But, this has gone out of hand, and I just want to remember the entire experience in the most positive way possible because it was a positive experience to begin with.”

Pauline finished as third runner-up at the Miss Universe Philippines coronation night.

Iloilo city bet Rabiya Mateo was crowned as Miss Universe Philippines 2020.
