By Cherry Sun

Messages of loss and sympathies poured in for the untimely death of Jamir Garcia, frontman of Pinoy metal band, Slapshock.

According to a report by the Quezon City Police District, Jamir was found lifeless in the comfort room of his home in Quezon City earlier today, November 26. He was rushed to the Metro North hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.

The unfortunate news has reached his colleagues and supporters, with several celebrities paying tribute to the departed OPM artist.

Kean Cipriano, who is also the vocalist of Callalily, honored Jamir as one of the humblest musicians he ever got to work with.

A part of his post read, “Napakataas ng respeto ko sa taong 'to. Hindi lang dahil magaling siyang musikero, pero dahil pinakitaan din niya ako ng respeto na hindi ko basta basta natatanggap sa lahat ng musikero lalo na nung panahon na nagsisimula ako. Nung panahon na pakiramdam ko hindi kami sinseryoso ng mga artists na nauna samin, si Jamir yung isa sa mga nagparamdam sa akin na parte ako ng industriyang to.

“Nakakagulat tong balita na to. Nakikiramay ako sa buong pamilya. Rest in peace @jamir_garcia. Salamat sa lahat.”

Gabby Alipe, frontman of Urbandub, requested respect for the artist's memory and asked netizens to refrain from sharing photos of the latter's remains on social media. He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunities Jamir opened up for him and their fellow musicians.

Chito Miranda recalled his friendship with Jamir to express his sorrow for the latter's passing, while Rico Blanco, Mark Escueta of Rivermaya, Chris Padilla of Hilera, and KC Montero also took their pain and sympathies to social media.
