'On Record' brings good vibes and inspiration starting February 16

By Racquel Quieta

Oscar Oida and Mav Gonzales are excited to bring good vibes and inspiration this 2021 through the new Kapuso program On Record.

This Kapuso Month, GMA Public Affairs is launching 'On Record'. It is a 30-minute magazine show that will feature user-generated videos, capturing life in all its moments--from the pleasant to the beautiful to the inspiring.

On Record will also be championing different causes, depending on the theme of each episode, such as heroism, volunteerism, pet adoption, among others.

Both Oscar Oida and Mav Gonzales have expressed their gratitude and eagerness to embark in this new chapter in their career as TV hosts.

Oscar said in his Instagram post, “It's truly exciting and humbling to be given this kind of opportunity. Matagal kong hinintay ang pagkakataon na ito at hindi ko kayo bibiguin.

“Maraming maraming salamat po sa Panginoon at sa GMA News and Public Affairs, your trust and generosity motivate and empower me to do my best, always. @gmapublicaffairs @mav_gonzales @gmanetwork @mjmarfori”

Meanwhile, Mav shared on Instagram that the opportunity to host On Record is actually an answered prayer.

“Little story time. Prayer and Fasting this year, I asked God for new opportunities at work (Balitanghali Weekend folded during the pandemic). Day 2 of fasting, I received a call telling me about this show.

“Grabe. God really gives beyond what you ask for or imagine. Thank you @gmanetwork for trusting us! #OOMG na talaga sa #OnRecord!”

Peers of the Kapuso hosts have also congratulated them on Instagram such as Pia Arcangel, Rhea Santos, Mariz Umali, Connie Sison, Victoria Tulad, Bernadette Reyes Vonne Aquino and Oscar's better half MJ Marfori.

In a statement given to GMANetwork.com, Oscar said that it's inevitable to feel pressure whenever you do something for the first time.

“There is always pressure when you do anything new especially when you belong to an organization as prestigious as GMA News and Public Affairs and the predecessors are such tough acts to follow.

“But being in the organization for more than two decades, I am thrilled to give a new flavor to storytelling and hosting that I am hopeful the viewers would appreciate.”

Oscar's co-host Mav, on the other hand, is happy to be back as a TV host and even reminisced about the first TV show she hosted when she was a kid.

“Actually when I was a child, I co-hosted the educational magazine show Chikiting Patrol which also aired on GMA 7.

“This is why hosting was really my thing. I had been doing it since I was 8.

“So I'm really excited to get to do this again and with the network I grew up with!

“But I have to admit, there is some pressure because we know the Power Block has always been filled with the big names of GMA. I hope I do them proud.”

On Record will premiere on February 16 and Kapuso viewers can watch it every Tuesday, 11:30 p.m. on GMA-7.
