SHINee's Minho tugs fans' hearts after describing Jonghyun as a 'good uncle'

After their successful “Don't Call Me” comeback, K-pop boy group SHINee continue their promotions by appearing in back-to-back YouTube videos from IU's Palette to Milanonna, and now ODG Studio.

In the sit-down video, Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin discuss with four children their successful careers in the K-pop industry where they break down their looks and their music.

While all the kids were impressed by SHINee's performances and amazing discography, the members were hit with a reality check of how many years have passed since their debut in 2008.

Leader Onew said, “You're in 6th grade? So you were born in 2009? My debut was in 2008. That was a quick reality check. So, I'm like her uncle, right? Or am I almost like her dad?”

Meanwhile, Key was taken aback when a kid knew him from his variety program Amazing Saturday and not as a SHINee member.

He said while viewing their debut stage, “I was so nervous back then. My mom and dad were in front of the stage.”

Each of the members then discussed the group's amazing tracks starting with “Replay,” “Amigo,” “Ring Ding Dong,” “Lucifer,” and “Sherlock.”

When it came to their concept image of “Good Evening,” Minho's partner immediately noticed that one person was missing from the group.

She stated, “Oh, one person is missing?”

Minho kindly replied, “Yes, one person is missing.”

The girl asked in response, “Who? Why? Did he leave the group?”

The Korean singer and rapper then calmly introduced her to Jonghyun by saying, “He's Uncle Jonghyun. Um… He's not well.”

The girl then said, “Oh, so he's not a bad uncle then.”

To which he replied, “Yes, he's not a bad uncle. He's a good uncle,” before continuing to explain about the group's first song as a four-member group.

By the end of the video, the group asked the kids what they thought of SHINee's career based on the snippets, with most congratulating how far they've come as K-pop idols.

Meanwhile, Taemin's partner jokingly said, “My uncle is almost in his thirties and he's still single,” prompting laughter from SHINee's youngest member.

After seeing the video, Shawols couldn't help but praise Minho for handling the situation and said that they were touched with how well he described Jonghyun in four words.
