Sanya Lopez gets EDDYS Awards nomination

First Yaya actress Sanya Lopez has been nominated for this year's EDDYS Awards.

The EDDYS or The Entertainment Editors' Choice is a yearly event in the Philippines that recognizes actors, writers, directors, and the whole Philippine film industry.

The actress expressed her gratitude for the nomination and said, "Nasorpresa ako sa nomination mula sa EDDY'S. Labis akong natutuwa dahil napansin muli ang pagganap ko sa Isa Pang Bahaghari."

She added, "Ang 'di ko malilimutan sa pagawa ng Isa Pang Bahaghari ay ang mga eksena namin nila Ms. Nora Aunor at Mr. Philip Salvador. Ang huhusay nila at marami akong natutunan sa kanila."

Sanya was honored this year as one of the nominees under the Best Supporting Actress for Isa Pang Bahaghari.

Other nominees in the same category are Via Antonio (Alter Me), Rhen Escaño (UnTrue), Agot Isidro (Motel Acacia), and Shaina Magdayao (Tagpuan).

Actresses who made it to the Best Actress lineup are Charlie Dizon (Fan Girl), Coleen Garcia (Mia), Bela Padilla (On Vodka, Beers and Regrets), Cristine Reyes (UnTrue) and Sylvia Sanchez (Coming Home) will vie for the trophy.

For the Best Actor category, nominees include John Arcilla (Suarez: The Healing Priest), Paulo Avelino (Fan Girl), Elijah Canlas (He Who Is Without Sin), Adrian Lindayag (The Boy Foretold By The Stars) and JC Santos (Motel Acacia).

The five films competing for Best Picture are Fan Girl, Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story, He Who Is Without Sin, The Boy Foretold By The Stars, and UnTrue.

Among the directors, Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo (UnTrue), Antoinette Jadaone (Fan Girl), Jason Paul Laxamana (He Who Is Without Sin), Avid Liongoren (Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story) and Irene Emma Villamor (On Vodka, Beers and Regrets) are up for honors in the 4th Eddys.

For the Best Supporting Actor category, nominated are Ricky Davao (Sunday Night Fever), Matteo Guidicelli (On Vodka, Beers and Regrets), Edgar Allan Guzman (Coming Home), Zanjoe Marudo (Isa Pang Bahaghari) and Enzo Pineda (He Who Is Without Sin).

The 4th EDDYS will stream on the Society of Philippines Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) Facebook page, Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Channel, and other platforms virtually.

The competition is intense among the nominees in the major awards, the announcement of which will be aired virtually on Monday, 22 March, in cooperation with the FDCP.
