Seo Ye-ji exits upcoming drama 'Island' amid scandal

South Korean actress Seo Ye-ji has reportedly exited her upcoming show, Island, following a recent controversy involving her behavior in past projects and alleged manipulative behavior toward ex-boyfriend Kim Jung-hyun.

Korean newspaper Korea Joongang Daily confirmed Seo Ye-ji has been replaced in Island. Forbes also reported that the actress lost several brand endorsements due to the controversy.

Seo Ye-ji has been subjected to a few rumors including her reportedly controlling behavior to Kim Jung-hyun that affected his work with co-stars and staff in his past drama.

She has also been accused of verbally abusing It's Okay to Not Be Okay staff where she played the lead role. Several of her alleged former classmates have also spoken up online about bullying incidents in the past.

Her agency, Gold Medalist Co., Ltd. has made an official statement regarding some of the accusations against Seo Ye-ji and denied the negative rumors.

Island is a fantasy drama based on a webtoon of the same name.

The series is set in Jeju Island, telling the story of an immortal monster hunter who fights evil creatures on the island that want to harm the human world.

Seo Ye-ji was initially cast in the role of a chaebol heiress who arrives on the island and becomes the target of these monsters. Island's production will now cast a new actress for the role.
