Rita Daniela clinches first international award nomination

By Bong Godinez

Kapuso actress Rita Daniela is feeling ecstatic after earning her first international nomination for her role in the movie, In the Name of the Mother.

Rita is nominated for Best Actress at the 11th International Film Festival Manhattan in New York City.

“I'm so happy! Naiyak ako sa tuwa at gulat sa news na 'yon. Masarap pala talaga sa pakiramdam that people would appreciate your hard work,” Rita told GMANetwork.com.

“Tears of joy because this is my first nomination outside of our country. That alone is enough for me.”

The nomination, said Rita, is a “manifestation of God's love" and promise.

Rita though is managing her expectations and would rather let fate take its course for the outcome.

“Again, the nomination alone is enough for me. If it's God's will and He knows my character is ready to receive something big like this, then okay po. All I can say is TYG! [Thank you, God].”

Rita's co-star in the movie, veteran actress Snooky Serna, is also in the running for the same award.

Director Joel Lamangan, meanwhile, is nominated for Best Director Feature.

In total, In the Name of the Mother got six nominations including Best Narrative and Best Screenplay.

Rita will soon be seen in the upcoming GMA series, Ang Dalawang Ikaw, alongside Ken Chan, Anna Vicente, and Dominic Roco.
