GOT7's JAY B and Jay Park open up about their soloist journeys in 1-on-1 interview

By Michelle Caligan

GOT7 leader JAY B and singer-songwriter Jay Park interviewed each other and talked about their past and future in a video on H1GHR MUSIC's YouTube channel.

Titled "JAY B x Jay Park - 1 on 1 Interview," the 15-minute video had the two K-pop artists share their thoughts about being an idol and moving forward with their solo careers.

Jay, who heads H1GHR MUSIC with Cha Cha Malone, asked JAY B about how he feels being one of their artists.

"I'm equally worried and excited at the same time. I also think it's going to be fun and I know I have to work hard.

"I'm looking forward to having some artistic freedom here. And because I'm continuing to go as JAY B, so I want to release many albums as JAY B.

"My first priority is to make sure I stay consistent and active with my music."

JAY B also admitted to Jay that he was a bit worried about joining H1GHR MUSIC.

"I can rap and I'm open to any new possibilities, but I specialize in singing. So I had a bit of worry if I would be able to fit in.

"But watching you reassured me that it wouldn't be an issue. I saw a bright future together as long as I work hard like you did."

Likewise, Jay had the same sentiments.

"Your main job was being an idol for seven years. So I thought would we be able to work together?

"But when you and Cha Cha Malone and I started our first studio session, it was more fun than expected and the songwriting went well."

Towards the end of the video, JAY B asked Jay what made the singer-songwriter call him and ask if he has already signed with a company.

"Our situations are not exactly the same but it reminds me of myself at that time. If only I had someone back then just mentor me and provide some advice, I think of how helpful it would've been to have that. Then maybe my career could have developed much quicker," Jay shared.
