Joy of K-pop girl group Red Velvet is bringing out the sunshine from the gloom caused by the pandemic with her summerific music video 'Hello.'
The new song is off to a phenomenal start thanks to ReVeluvs across the globe, with her music video amassing more than three million views since its release on Monday, May 31.
In an article posted on Korean entertainment site Soompi, Joy talked about her solo album during an online music listening session and press conference.
She shared that the album is a remake of hit songs from the '90s and '00s.
“I listened to a lot of songs while choosing music for the album. The songs from the 1990s and 2000s gave me a sense of healing. I loved them. I really like that retro vibe. I've even said that I wish I was born earlier so I could've lived through those times. I really like that pure, honest vibe that is in the movies and other content from that time. I got a lot of inspiration from the movies.”
Joy is the second member to have a solo album after Wendy, who came out with her solo mini album "Like Water" in April.
She also thanked Wendy for immensely supporting her while doing the “Hello” album.
The K-pop idol noted, “I thought a lot about how Wendy must have gone through the same difficulties when she released her solo album. There are so many people who work hard leading up to the album's release.
"I hope a lot of people listen to my album. Wendy sent me a lot of long messages that gave me strength.”
Two years ago, Red Velvet traveled to the Philippines to perform for their Pinoy fans.
