Lorde confirms her new music is coming this 2021

By Racquel Quieta

If you need something to look forward to during the second half of the year, look no further 'cause Lorde has just confirmed that she's going to gift us with new music this 2021.

In her website, the New Zealand-born singer-songwriter shared an eye-catching photo of her derriere with a text that says, “Solar Power.”

This seems to confirm rumors that her first single to be released after a long while is titled "Solar Power."

Plus, a note below her photo reads, “ARRIVING IN 2021…PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE.”

The announcement came a week after some tracks from her upcoming third album have allegedly leaked online, and after Lorde was named as one of the performers at Spain's Primavera Festival to be held in June 2022.

It's been four years after Lorde released her second album, Melodrama.

But the "Royals" and "Team" singer has kept her fans updated via e-mail.

Lorde first teased about her third album in May 2020.

She wrote an e-mail to fans revealing that she's collaborating again with acclaimed record producer Jack Antonoff.

Jack has worked with Lorde in Melodrama and he has also collaborated with other music icons, such as Taylor Swift, Lana del Rey, and Pink.

Lorde wrote, “A thing started to take shape. And then, of course, the world shut down.

“We're still working away -- Jack and I FaceTimed for over an hour this morning going over everything. But it'll take a while longer.”

She then went on to encourage fans to be patient and promised that it'll be worth the wait.

“Waiting, the thing that felt so pointless and annoying when I was young, is now this kind of delicio activity.

“In my opinion, the greatest treat I can give you is work that will last ten, twenty, thirty years.

“And that kind of work takes time. So if you can, I'd like for you to try tuning in to the time spent waiting for something of the highest quality to arrive.

“Enjoy the sensation as it builds. When the moment comes, our wave will crest super f--ing high.

“I can tell you, this new thing, it's got its own colours now. If you know anything about my work, you'll know what that means.

“The work is so f--ing good, my friend. I am truly jazzed for you to hear it.”

Moreover, Malay, another producer whom Lorde has worked with in Melodrama, is also on board the creation of her third album.

And in an interview with Reverb magazine in July 2020, Malay confirmed that Lorde is taking her time in producing the highly anticipated album.

Malay revealed, “She has an insane vision, and she is not going to compromise whatsoever.”
