On July 14, during her homecoming, Rabiya Mateo revealed her only regret as a candidate in the Miss Universe pageant.
"I wish I deactivated my social media," the beauty queen laughingly said.
She also added that this is the same advice she wants to give to the next Miss Universe Philippines.
"The pressure from the fans is something that is going to be a reflection of your performance. So sometimes it's better to block yourself and to maintain that inner peace," Rabiya candidly shared.
The Ilongga beauty queen stressed that the social media and fans are not the real jury of the pageant.
She candidly said, "Social media is not the judge of the competition. The fans are not the judge.
"You need to focus on your physical training, on your question and answer portion, and the holistic approach. It's always about the performance that you had during that night."
It can be remembered that Rabiya went viral days before the coronation night when she cried and apologized to "disappointed" fans during the national costume segment of the pageant.
In her Instagram live that day, she said, "I just want to do a quick live to tell you guys na I'm so sorry kung na-disappoint man kayo sa akin, but I know I did my best.
“I even cut my finger earlier. 'Yung stockings ko puno na [rin] siya ng dugo but I [kept] fighting kahit wala ng oras. I didn't have time to retouch my hair, retouch my makeup. I was there, I was running for pins, I was running for scissors, for everything just to be able to execute the costume really well."
"Kaya sana maging proud kayo sa akin kasi it's not easy, pero kinakaya ko para sa inyong lahat."
Rabiya finished her Miss Universe journey as one of the Top 21 finalists.
She stayed in the US for two months and made the most out of her break. On July 1, she finally came home to the Philippines and spent 10 days in self-quarantine.
In her recent interview on Unang Hirit, she revealed that Hollywood director Cyrus Nowrasteh talked to her about possibly casting her as the female lead in his future film. Although Rabiya said nothing's final, she remains hopeful that her first project would be a Hollywood movie.
In the meantime, the beauty queen has started vlogging. She shared that she is planning to create more content about the life of a Miss Universe Philippines queen behind the cameras.
