Julie Anne San Jose talks about upcoming musical trilogy, 'Limitless'; reacts to collab wish from GMA Playlist artists

By Bong Godinez

With her talent and star appeal, it's no wonder that many artists of today are dreaming of working with Limitless Star, Julie Anne San Jose.

On Wednesday (August 11), at the launching of GMA Music's new sub-label, GMA Playlist, most of the artists under the label's wing expressed their wish to someday collaborate with Julie Anne for a project.

GMA Playlist is home to talented artists Mikee Quintos, Arra San Agustin, Anthony Rosaldo, Crystal Paras, Denise Barbacena, Faith Da Silva, Jeniffer Maravilla, Kaloy Tingcungco, Kim De Leon, Lexi Gonzales, Shayne Sava, Mark Herras, and Seb Pajarillo.

Julie Anne was flattered when she learned about her inclusion in the wish list of her fellow Kapuso stars.

“It feels nice to be working with different artists especially collaborating with new people,” Julie Anne said during the press conference held on Thursday, August 12, to promote Limitless: A Musical Trilogy.

“Ako naman open naman ako sa lahat ng mga ganyan and I'm amazed by great talents. I'm such in awe sa mga talented na singers na meron tayo sa GMA and I'm looking forward to working with all of them. It would be an honor.”

Julie Anne, of course, is no stranger when it comes to collaboration as seen before when she worked with rapper Gloc-9 for the song “Bahaghari” and singer-songwriter and OPM icon Rico Blanco for “Isang Gabi,” among others.

Limitless is no different as it's a total team effort given the many elements involved including logistics as they have to shoot in different locations across the country.

“For me and the whole team parang this is more than just another online show, it's actually beyond that and it's very special to me and everyone behind this project and who are present in this project,” she smiled.

“Parang it has given us more reasons to live our lives and mga realizations din that there is more to this life, that there is so much more to see out there.”

The three-part musical is designed to highlight Julie Anne as a singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, and multi-instrumentalist.

But it also wants to show a side of her that is not commonly seen by the public, someone who is constantly searching for inspiration in her personal and artistic life.

During the press conference, a teaser video was played containing snippets showing a more candid Julie Anne deeply immersed in her surroundings and mingling with the locals.

The images were powerful, authentic, and moving, and they showed a different facet of Julie Anne free from the glitzy glare of the spotlight.

It was the first time that Julie Anne saw the clips and even she was astonished by the realness of the moments.

“I also want to share with everyone not only my music, my adventures, and discoveries, 'yong mga hidden gems dito sa Pilipinas and kung ganu ito kaganda. Not only that but also a piece of my heart with you kasi I don't think I've ever been this open and vulnerable sa mga tao,” she reflected.

She continued, “A lot of people see me as performer, singer, laging nakikita sa mga shows pero parang for the first time makikita n'yo ako as me, kung ano talaga ako.”

Part one of Limitless, titled 'Breathe,' is on September 17.
