BTS announces second extended break since debut

By Ron Lim

BTS are taking a break once again, after spending the past few months collecting accolades for their work.

In a statement released on the Bighit Music Twitter account, @BIGHIT_MUSIC, the company said this would be the group's “second official extended period of rest” since 2019. The statement says that the group's break started after the “Permission To Dance On Stage - LA” and “2021 Jingle Ball Tour” performances.

According to the statement, the break will provide the group an opportunity to “get re-inspired and recharge.” The company also noted that this will be the first time for the group to spend the holiday season with their families since they debuted.

The period of rest will also be to prepare for their upcoming Seoul concert in March of next year as well as the release of the new album. Check out the full statement below.

The break comes on the heels of a successful couple of months for the group. They were recently awarded the Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards and also feted at the MTV European Music Awards.

BTS also had a successful appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, where they filled for its popular segment, “Crosswalk Musical.”

Part of the filming was seen by Fil-Am broadcaster Cher Calvin, who posted a snippet on her Instagram account with the simple caption “Oh my god BTS!!!!”

Among the Filipino celebrities that left comments on the post are Mo Twister, Daphne Oseña-Paez, and Ruffa Gutierrez.

The “Crosswalk Musical” performance was just one of the activities that led up to the group's successful four-night concerts at the LA SoFi Stadium.

The in-person concert comes after the group staged a successful online one in South Korea earlier this year.
