Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19 in the United Kingdom despite being fully vaccinated.

In an Instagram post on Friday, January 7, the Filipino-German beauty queen shared that she and her sister, who also contracted the virus, have already tested negative as they near the end of their isolation period.

“I've been fully vaccinated and received my booster shot already. Kumpleto rin ako ng flu and pneumonia vaccines. I eat healthy and I'm active, but I still got it. I got all the symptoms too. Fever, sore throat, body pain, runny nose, cough, and I also lost my sense of smell and taste. It's not like a regular cold or flu that goes away after a few days,” she wrote.

Pia then guaranteed that she is currently regaining her health, saying, “The worst is through. I am recovering well. I am beyond grateful my parents are safe. Hindi sila nahawa sa akin.”

She also urged people to take the virus seriously, noting that COVID-19 cases around the world have been increasing at an alarming rate.

“Being fully vaccinated doesn't stop you from getting the virus but it helps you overcome it. Please follow health and safety protocols. I think it's the moment you put your guard down, doon ka mahahawa. You think you're safe and usually, 'yong makakahalubilo mo, walang symptoms. Akala mo all is well pero nahawa ka na pala at may possibility na maipasa mo sa iba nang 'di mo alam,” she warned.

Pia also criticized people who break health protocols and still go out even after testing positive, sharing her encounters with people who have confidently done this knowing they won't get caught.

“Meron pa diyan, may symptoms na and have the means to get tested pero ayaw nilang ma-confirm na may COVID sila tapos lalabas pa rin. Naku, konsensiya niyo nalang 'yan. Konting personal accountability, please,” she added.

“Ang daming nagkakasakit. I don't want to sound preachy but let's not be selfish and go breaking protocols, hoarding supplies, and refusing to get tested and vaccinated. I hope we can start 2022 right. Let's look after one another by getting those jabs, staying in isolation if needed, stop gathering in big groups, frequent hand washing, and please wear those masks properly.”

Pia has recently reunited with her family in the United Kingdom for the holidays.

The UK has reported 179,756 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, January 6, bringing its weekly total to 1,272,131.
