The biggest night in music is ready to go once more after organizers of the 2022 Grammy Awards have announced that the show will be held in Las Vegas on April 3.
Rather than its usual location at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the 2022 Grammy Awards will be held at the MGM Grand Arena. Trevor Noah will also be returning as host of the ceremonies.
The Recording Academy had announced a couple of weeks ago that the award ceremony had been pushed back to “a future date,” citing “uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant” as the reason.
In a statement published last January 5, organizers said that their “top priority” remains the “health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly” behind the scenes.
This is the second Grammy Awards postponement brought about by the global coronavirus pandemic. The previous year's Grammy Awards were also moved from January to March, with no audience and just the nominees and their guests in attendance.
Leading the 2022 nominees is Jon Batiste, who is up for 11 awards. A number of Filipino-Americans are also up for awards, like H.E.R. and Saweetie.
