5 things we're looking forward to with EXO Suho's return

By Jasmin Tan

"During those times that made you happy while waiting, I think that's really love." - Suho

It's been almost two years since EXO's leader, lead vocalist, and visual Kim Junmyeon, a.k.a. Suho enlisted in the military. While Eris enjoyed the waiting season, we would surely love the comeback a hundred times more!

Here are just some of the things we're looking forward to seeing once our dearest bunny prince finally returns!

1. KJM2

Suho's first mini album Self-Portrait, which was released in March 2020 when the pandemic just started, is a brilliant and comforting work of art. With its songwriting which he actively participated in, vocals and visuals that came straight from heaven, and lead single "Let's Love" that has a very special meaning to fans - the record is just an absolute gem. Although it's not an “enlistment gift,” it has kept EXO-Ls and Bunnyzens under a warm blanket while he serves his military duties.

It's not surprising that one of the things we anticipate the most following his discharge is his solo comeback. After the success of the masterpiece that is Self-Portrait, we can't wait to hear more of what he has to offer through KJM2!

2. EXO comeback

EXO comebacks have always been a main event in the K-Pop world, but since the group has been focusing more on solo endeavors for the past years, their latest release "Don't Fight The Feeling" has immediately earned a special spot in EXO-Ls' hearts. (Not to mention Lay participated in it, too!)

And while Suho unfortunately missed this comeback, it would surely bring delight and tears if the group will release another record this year now that the backbone of EXO songs' bridges is about to return! Stans and casual listeners alike will surely not be able to resist their power - especially with Suho's vocal color and prowess that never fail to offer something unique to the nonet's discography.

3. Actor Kim Junmyeon

Suho does not just impress in terms of vocals and performances, he has also proven himself to excel in the field of acting. He has already starred in various stage plays, dramas, and films, and we just couldn't get enough!

We last saw him in a drama through How Are U Bread, a web series filmed in 2016 and released in 2020, co-starring The Red Sleeve actress Lee Se-young. While in theater, his latest stint was his reprised lead role of Gwynplaine in The Man Who Laughs.

Once he's back, we're hoping to see more of Actor Kim Junmyeon. Whether he'll slay the stage or the screen, we'll surely be ready to give our cheers and support!

4. Aesthetic Instagram photos

We can't talk about Instagram feed goals without mentioning Suho. His page is so aesthetic that just scrolling through it is enough to please one's eyes. And with a face as angelic as his, it's simply visual overload!

His posts are definitely one of the things we missed when he enlisted. And even though we got a lot of shoe updates (if you know, you know), and a few posts on special occasions, it's still much more exciting to regularly see his perfect-for-the-gram posts with their matching witty captions.

Looking forward to more notifications from Junmyeon this year! User @kimjuncotton, we'll be waiting!

5. Chaotic leader

Aside from being the Kings of K-Pop, EXO is adored because of their strong bond and genuine brotherhood--two things that have been quite evident on and off cam through the years. When the group gathers together, it is certain that fun and chaos will ensue. How can they not when their leader is, though self-proclaimed, the funniest EXO member!

He may be hot and dazzling on stage, but he's a caring and funny hyung behind the scenes. Even during his service days, he was photographed supporting his members' activities--the latest one being the premiere of Sehun's movie The Pirates: Goblin Flag (Pirates 2).

When he's finally off duty, Eris' hearts will be filled with joy just by the thought that he'll be reunited with his brothers.

And of course, who isn't excited to hear Suho say “We are one! EXO Saranghaja!” with his members as well?

When the countdown to Suho's discharge began, it seemed like it would take forever for the 600+ days to pass by. Now that we're finally at the finish line, we can't help but cry tears of joy and excitement. Sending a virtual hug to all Eris and Bunnyzens! Let's all give Junmyeon a warm welcome!
