ABS-CBN exec Carlo Katigbak glad to have GMA as the new platform for Star Cinema movies

Industry titans GMA Network and ABS-CBN have come together to ink a deal to show Star Cinema movies on the Kapuso network's local channels.

Top executives from both networks attended a virtual contract signing ceremony on April 5 to seal the deal.

ABS-CBN's CEO Carlo Katigbak expressed how glad he is to have a new platform for Star Cinema's long roster of movies.

"Every storyteller's dream is to have as many people as possible experience their creations. Now, because of the kindness of our friends at GMA, we have the special opportunity to bring our Kapamilya stories to a new audience," he said during the virtual event.

Mr. Katigbak also hopes that the landmark deal will bring more opportunities for both GMA Network and ABS-CBN to partner up and collaborate.

"We hope the Kapusos find joy and inspiration in viewing our Star Cinema movies. And we also look forward to a new era of friendship and cooperation within our small industry," he added.

Echoing the sentiment is GMA First Vice President for Program Management Jose Mari "Joey" R. Abacan.

"I would consider this as a blessing sa tagal ko nagpo-programming ng network at saka the same doon sa mga pagbili ng mga pelikula. Tuwang-tuwa ako dahil after having a lot of relationships with other major [film outfit]--having Viva, Regal and OctoArts with us, madadagdagan na naman po tayo ng isang grupo na tinitingala ko magmula pa noong una. Maraming salamat, Star Cinema and ABS-CBN," said Mr. Abacan.

Watch out for Star Cinema movies such as Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo's global blockbuster hit Hello, Love, Goodbye, John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo's It Takes a Man and a Woman, and Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban's The Unmarried Wife on GMA Network this April.
