Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera to showcase versatility as top-notch actors in first-ever sitcom together, 'Jose and Maria's Bonggang Villa'

The two biggest stars of GMA Network are gearing up for the grand comeback of their loveteam on Philippine television!

Real-life couple Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera will be working on an exciting project that will surely tickle the funny bone of our loyal Kapuso viewers, who have been clamoring to see them back together on screen.

The couple's last primetime series was My Beloved in 2012 and we saw them flex their on-screen chemistry again with their special roles in the much-talked about requel of the telefantasya series Encantadia. In the high-rating primetime show, Marian portrayed the all-powerful, but benevolent Reyna Minea, while Dingdong was brilliant as Raquim.

Aside from their immense popularity and countless recognitions here in the Philippines--DongYan, as their ardent fans call their teamup, have been hailed internationally, too.

Marian bagged the "Most Favorite Foreign Artist" in Vietnam in 2014 and Dingdong won the Asian Star Prize in the 2020 Seoul International Drama Awards.

And this year, the showbiz power couple will return to delight their fans and showcase their versatility as top-notch actors in their brand-new sitcom Jose and Maria's Bonggang Villa.

In a recent story conference attended by GMANetwork.com, Marian shared that this comedy program is their gift to their fandom that they've been terribly missing, too.

She stated, “Kung miss nila kami. Mas miss na miss namin sila. Kaya siguro isa ito sa ma-o-offer namin sa kanila. After 10 years nakikita namin 'yung mga comments nila, nangungulit sila.

“Mine-message rin kami kung kailan kami babalik, mag-sama kaming dalawa. So, finally ito mangyayari na talaga siya, so para sa kanila yan.”

Meanwhile, Dingdong Dantes has expressed his excitement to collaborate with the whole team behind Jose and Maria's Bonggang Villa--in this sitcom the Dantes couple will also be co-producers of the show.

Dingdong said, “Siguro more than being co-producers we really consider ourselves co-creators. Kasi kahit kami sa set, as actor, with the director and with the creative team, lalo na siguro pagdating sa comedy.

“Kumbaga kung ito 'yung nakasulat sa script, minsan mababago yan.”

The Kapuso Primetime King continued, “Ako first-time ko kasi gumawa talaga ng full-on sitcom, kumbaga sa drama minsan nababago siya sa set na sang-ayon doon siguro sa mga inputs nung bawat characters. I'm sure baka dito ganun din kaya lahat po kami dito ay co-creators.

“Aside from, of course, being co-producers 'yun ang pinaka-fun part dito,'cause there is so much to explore from different experiences ng lahat ng members na bumubuo nito.”

GMA Network First Vice President for Program Management Department Jose Mari R. Abacan thanked APT Entertainment and DongYan for taking on this incredible project and shared that he's really proud to give another quality sitcom to all our Kapuso viewers.
