Gibo Teodoro keeping options open on 2028 plans

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. on Friday said he is keeping his options open on a possible 2028 presidential bid but said it is too early to make plans as he remains focused on his current work.

“Alam mo, mahirap magbalak ngayon. Mahirap magbalak dahil dito na muna tayo, tutok muna sa trabaho,” Teodoro told Super Radyo dzBB in an interview when asked if he has plans to run in the 2028 elections.

(You know it's hard to plan now. It's hard to plan because I am focused on my work here.)

Teodoro, who ran for president in 2010, said he would consider his options once his current term ends.

“Ngayon, kapag darating ang 2028, tingnan natin yung mga option natin dahil matatapos din naman ang termino ko dito, kaya maghahanap din ako kung saan ako babagay, kung saan ako akma, kung saan puwede ako makatulong, at kung saan naman may opportunity na maganda,” he said.

(When 2028 comes, let's look at our options because my term here will also end, so I will also look for where I fit in, where I am suitable, where I can help, and where there is a good opportunity.)

“Mahirap din namang magpumilit na wala sa lugar,” he added.

According to Teodoro, his position as Defense chief requires him to remain focused, particularly during international forums where he represents the country.
