'Voltes V: Legacy' actress Ysabel Ortega is flattered to be compared to her action star father Sen. Lito Lapid: 'I'm proud to be my father's daughter.'
Ysabel Ortega wowed the netizens after her impressive stunt training video for the live-action adaptation series, Voltes V: Legacy, circulated online.
Many think she is suited to be an action star like her father, Senator Lito Lapid, who rose to popularity because of his countless action movies.
Speaking to Gorgy Rula during What We Could Be's press preview in TriNoma last July 25, she shared, "Siyempre, Voltes V 'di naman siya maliit na project kasi kailangan naman talagang paghandaan and I'm happy na nakikita rin naman ng mga tao 'yung effort ko to really fit the character of Jamie."
In Voltes V: Legacy, she will play Jamie Robinson, the female ninja of the Voltes V team.
Jamie is very knowledgeable when it comes to martial arts and is skilled in combat fighting. She is usually the voice of reason for the group and pilots the Volt Lander (feet).
Asked if she found the training, composed of mixed martial arts, difficult, she answered, "Mahirap siya in a way na na-e-enjoy ko rin kasi sobrang out of my comfort 'yun e.
"In real life, 'di naman talaga 'ko maangas, so feeling ko parang challenge din 'yun para sa akin na lagyan ng angas 'yung character ni Jamie. A part of that is to train hard, to really work on my craft physically din."
She added, referencing the action stunts of her dad, "Buti nga walang baril si Jamie."
Ysabel doesn't mind being compared to her father. In fact, she is flattered by it and hopes to follow in his footsteps as an action movie star.
The 23-year-old Kapuso actress said, "I'm proud to be my father's daughter tuwing nako-compre nila, tuwing nasasabi nila, uy parang dad ko din, yes!
"Siyempre, nakaka-proud. Idol ko 'yung dad ko e. He's been always my idol. I watched his movies ever since I was young so para masabi nila na ma-compliment nila ko that way, then I'm very grateful."
Ysabel is Lito's daughter with singer/actress, Michelle Ortega, a former That's Entertainment mainstay.
