Magkano ang unang suweldo ni Alden Richards sa GMA-7?

By Aedrianne Acar

There's no denying that Asia's Mulimedia Star Alden Richards is one of the top actors of his generation.

Aside from starring in several successful teleseryes and scoring huge hits as a singer, he has transformed himself into an entrepreneur, much like his character Tristan Hernandez, the hotshot venture capitalist in the primetime series Start-Up PH.

But are you curious about how much Alden was earning when he started in GMA-7 almost 12 years ago?

In an exclusive interview during the zoom conference of Start-Up PH Special Watch Party with GMA Pinoy TV held this Saturday morning (November 5), Alden shared how much he received for his first paycheck as a Kapuso.

The award-winning TV idol recalled, “I think ang unang suweldo ko PHP 10,000, 'yun yata 'yung pinaka-una kong payslip ko sa GMA.”

Alden continued, “Medyo nagkaroon naman ako ng early experience in managing my money, dahil sa Lola Ko. Ganun 'yun e, mga first year ko sa GMA lahat ng sahod goes to my bank.

“Doon ko muna siya nilagay lahat. And then with the income that I'm having at that moment kinonsider ko muna 'yung quality of life ko: How do I make my life at the moment more productive, because I live in Laguna and my work is in Manila.

“Every day nagco-commute kami ni Mama Ten, so inuna ko muna ayusin 'yun para at least marami akong trabaho magawa.”

He added that he also bought a second-hand car that he could use when going to his tapings and shoots.

“ So, mas marami ako ma-produce ng income. So bumili ako ng second hand na kotse.

“Lakasan lang ng loob, trust your gut. Sometimes 'yung gut feel is a very powerful tool, when it comes to decision making.”

Next month, Alden is set to mark a big milestone as he celebrates his 12th anniversary in the industry.

He told GMANetwork.com that reaching this achievement was only possible by constantly reminding himself that he needs to move forward and to always move out of his comfort zone.

“I don't settle for a certain accomplishment. I always move forward, I always look for other opportunities. Para hindi ako relax, I'm always at the edge of my seat--laging may kaba, laging my uncertainty,” Alden explained.

“Kasi when you are too comfortable already with your life right now, it means ayaw mo ng growth. Ayaw mo nang lumaki, so being here for 12 years ganun lang ako lagi.

“[Mero'n akong] opportunity na naging successful ako, the question is: What's next?

“Saan ako pupunta and yun 'yung growth, dun ka nagma-mature and then to experience things first hand. Doon mo nate-test 'yung sarili mo.”

Thanking the Start-Up PH supporters

With good ratings and numerous positive reviews that Start-Up PH has been getting since it first aired last September, Alden Richards also expressed his gratitude to all the Kapuso viewers for their tremendous support.

He said, “We are thanking all the supporters of the show for being with us every night.”

He also hopes that through their program, they will be able to inspire a lot of Filipino to put up their own business, too.

“Of course, Start-Up PH is a guide for Filipinos na gusto talaga magtayo ng sarili nilang mga negosyo, especially when it comes to the tech industry.

“Because, kami as being the cast marami rin kami natutunan dito, while doing it. So, marami kami nabaon na personal learnings from this teleserye.”
