Barbie Forteza and David Licauco tease fans: 'May continuation ang FiLay love story'

The love story of Klay and Fidel in Maria Clara at Ibarra will have a continuation, according to actors Barbie Forteza and David Licauco, who play the roles, respectively.

“May continuation ang FiLay love story. May continuation or may elevation?” Barbie said during her interview with Aubrey Carampel on "Chika Minute" aired on 24 Oras last Tuesday, February 7.

She added, “Everything with Klay and Fidel was a coincidence. Parang it's a fortunate accident.”

Likewise, David said about his and Barbie's love team, “Lalayag pa rin yung FiLay,” adding that they want to make fans of FiLay happy.

“I think as a team, yun yung ipapakita pa rin namin sa El Fili,” he added.

Fans have previously noticed the great chemistry between the two non-Noli Me Tangere characters in various scenes, most notably in their intense argument scene, and expressed their hope that the writers will continue to develop the relationship between the two.

Like the fans, Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo, who plays Crisostomo Ibarra in the series; and Juancho Trivino, who plays Padre Salvi, extended their support to the love team.

"FiLay ftw [for the win]!!!” Dennis captioned in an Instagram story showing a photo of the two.

On Twitter, Juancho commented on the Tweet of Barbie posting the same picture and called them “cuties.”

When Barbie noted that Juancho seemed like a fan of the FiLay love team, he answered, “Yan ay isa sa aking mga sikreto, katulad ng nasaan si Crispin,' Love PS (Padre Salvi).”

But after 13 years of waiting, is Fidel the same person Klay once met after he joined the rebels?

For David, what happened to Fidel is a character development brought out by his meeting Klay.

“Kung mahal mo yung isang tao tsaka nakita niya na yun yung ginagawa nung babaeng mahal niya, pwede talagang mag bago ka rin, magkaroon ka ng character development and I think yun yung nangyari kay Fidel,” he said.

Meanwhile, some viewers may see the actions of Klay trying to save everyone from the story as being selfish since the book has already happened, meaning that there's nothing she can do to change the outcome.

But like what happened to Maria Clara (played by Julie Ann San Jose), viewers should look forward to what effects her actions have on the characters of the novel as Barbie feels that it's more of an act of being selfless.

She explained, “Sa mundo niya, sa modern world, wala na nga siyang nagagawa, e. So baka this time, dito sa mundong 'to, may magawa siyang pag-babago.”

“Naalala ko nga yung sinabi sa akin ni Mr. Torres na pagmamahal ang magiging dahilan mo kung bakit ka mananatili sa mundong ito,” she added.
