Sparkle star and former Apoy sa Langit actor Dave Bornea could not help but express how grateful he is for the lessons he learned from all the veteran actors he has worked with. He said that he will make sure to bring those lessons with him in future projects.
“Actually po, kung sino man 'yung nakakasama namin sa set or kung sino man 'yung nakakasama naming actors, veteran actors, it's a learning experience e. Hindi mo siya puwedeng daanan lang,” Dave said in a media conference for Sparkle Artists held on February 16.
He added that since he could learn from his veteran co-stars, it's important to have great observational skills so that he won't miss any lessons he might get from watching them perform.
“Kailangan maayos 'yung observation mo and always ready ka mentally kasi sayang 'yung mga panahon kung idadaan mo lang siya,” he said.
Dave's newest project is the political movie Oras de Peligro, which tells the story of a family that becomes part of an uprising after the head of the family was murdered by a corrupt politician.
Aside from this movie, he aslo appeared in the successful GMA Afternoon Prime series Apoy sa Langit in 2022. The series starred Zoren Legaspi, Maricel Laxa, Mikee Quintos, and Lianne Valentin.
However, for the young actor, it was the late Cherie Gil who he considers as the best person he learned lessons from.
Dave shared that during his first teleserye Alyas Robinhood, where Cherie played the role of his mom, he would stutter and miss his cues every time he gets nervous.
He recalled, “Parang in a good way, kinausap ako ni Miss Cherie Gil na 'Wag kang kabahan, ok lang 'yan. Ganyan talaga.'”
“For me, sobrang honored po ako na nakasama and nakatrabaho si Miss Cherie Gil,” he added.
Dave added that the veteran actress might look intimidating at first but was very generous in sharing her wisdom in acting. He explained, “pag naka-usap mo siya, she's so sweet and napaka-generous niya when it comes to knowledge sa acting.”
