Joel is a medical frontliner in the Philippines who originally took Nursing as a pre-med course, but later on, pursued being a nurse because he fell in love with the profession.

During the early days of the enhanced community quarantine, Joel attended to a patient who was still a suspected COVID-19 case at that time due to pneumonia.

A few days later, they learned that the patient died, and fear grew among the medical frontliners, especially as Joel started developing COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, fever, and colds.

Joel and his peers had a chance to get tested for COVID-19, and that's how he found out that he got infected with the disease.

Joel's battle with COVID-19 was tough as he tested positive for the disease three times.

But, fortunately, he was able to beat the disease and has decided to return to work as a medical frontliner, after a week of finally testing negative for COVID-19.

Although there's still great risk that comes with fulfilling his duties as a nurse, Joel said he feels proud to serve his countrymen.
