SHINee Taemin

Before the release of his upcoming album 'Advice,' SHINee's Taemin held a VLive broadcast where he revealed his various personas' MBTI, analyzed his past music videos, and gave awards to his “minnies.”

SHINee's Taemin took a trip down memory lane as he looked back on his seven-year journey as a solo artist during a special VLive broadcast on Tuesday, May 11.

Titled “PROTAGONIST: TAEMIN,” the 1.5-hour broadcast began with the K-pop idol talking about the MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) of each of his “minnies,” the personas he took for every era of his solo career, including those for "Danger,” “Move,” “Want,” and “Criminal.”

He also discussed the details and choreography of his iconic music videos and even got a video message from one of his choreographers, Ian Eastwood.

Ian shared, "I've always been crazy, crazy impressed by Taemin from the very first time that we worked together. He came into rehearsal and he was just absolutely killing the choreography, from the very first time we were in the studio. I felt like we had a nice synergy from the very first time we danced together.

"I just know that his fan base is so in love with him and so inspired by him and that I just honestly can't wait to see him continue to inspire these people from around the world, and just be his best version of himself."

He ended the broadcast by giving awards to his mini-mes and left a message to his fans.

"I've always said thank you and thank you so much. But I hope you know that I want to express and cherish you endlessly and keep talking to you! Always with a warm heart and a happy heart, I hope you don't feel depressed and have fun. Eat a lot of delicious food and don't get sick and don't cheat on me!"

"PROTAGONIST: TAEMIN" is part of the promotions for Taemin's upcoming third mini album Advice.

One of the album's B-side tracks, “If I Could Tell You,” will feature Girls' Generation member Taeyeon. The duet, described as “an R&B pop number depicting the growing feelings of love between two friends who are about to cross the line,” marks the first collaboration between the two SM Entertainment artists.

Advice contains five songs and will be released on Tuesday, May 18, at 5:00 p.m. (Philippine Time) along with the title track and music video.

Taemin debuted as the maknae (youngest member) and main dancer of contemporary K-pop group SHINee on May 25, 2008. He released his first solo track “Danger” in 2014, becoming SM Entertainment's first soloist from an active idol group.

His last full album Never Gonna Dance Again was released in two parts, Act 1 and Act 2, in September and November 2020 respectively. A repackaged version containing both parts was released in December 2020.

SHINee will be celebrating their 13th anniversary on Tuesday, May 25, via a special broadcast titled “SHINee Day” on their NAVER VLive channel at 7:00 pm (Philippine time).

They are also set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut in Japan through another VLive broadcast titled “Bistro de SHINee” on Sunday, May 23, at 5:00 pm (Philippine Time) -- a month ahead of their actual anniversary date, June 22.

Advice will be Taemin's last solo release and SHINee Day will be his last activity with SHINee before his military hiatus on May 31. He is the last member to enlist after Onew, Key, and Minho, and is expected to be discharged in November 2022.
