
Sparkle star Skye Chua will be the sole representative of the Philippines in figure skating in the upcoming International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games, which will be held from January 13 to 23 in Turin, Italy.
Skye, a University of the Philippines student and a Philippine National Figure Skating team member, recently received the Milo Grit Award at the 2024 Philippine National Figure Skating Championship.
The athlete-actress will showcase her athleticism and artistry on the global stage which is supported by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) President Edwin C. Fabro.

This marks a significant milestone for the Philippines at the FISU Winter Universiade.

Last November, Skye showed her prowess in figure skating when she competed in the Philippine National Figure Skating Championships despite her recurring hip injury. She placed fifth on the second day of the competition to which the athlete-actress admitted she “could have done better.”
“I'm happy to perform this and share this to everyone, but I hope in the next competition, I do better with this program,” Skye said in an interview with GMANetwork.com.
Before the competition, Skye also joined and won bronze in the 2024 Southeast Asia Open Figure Skating Trophy last July 2024.
Aside from being an athlete, Skye is also one of GMA Network's Sparkle artists, appearing in the Philippines' first figure skating drama, Hearts on Ice, and the recently concluded historical drama series Pulang Araw.
