More than three months since the World Health Organization's (WHO) declaration of the COVID-19 disease as a pandemic, we continue to face uncertainties as we keep shelter at our homes.
The new coronavirus disease has not only threatened our physical health but also our mental and financial stability. And as challenges pile up, we couldn't help but feel stressed and anxious.
WHO acknowledged that mental health is a serious concern and has actually released some illustrations that would help people manage stress and anxiety.

Getting more and quality sleep has been proven to reduce stress levels.
According to American Psychological Association, a good night's sleep helps recharge our brains, rests our body, and repairs our muscles. Sleep deprivation may also affect one's memory, judgment, or mood, and may lead to other health problems.
Yasmien echoes the benefit of sleep, saying, “Kasi siyempre kailangan natin ng maayos na pahinga para maayos din ang pag-iisip natin.”
Working on your physical fitness benefits your mental health, too.
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, exercising is the most recommended coping technique by health care professionals.
For Yasmien and her family, they make it a point to regularly work out.
She says, “Para maganda 'yung blood flow mo at ang oxygen na papunta sa brain mo, at makapag-isip nang maayos.”
Yasmien considers reading a stress relief. It's true, reading is a healthy and nurturing coping technique that can even help you temporarily escape problems and challenges in real life.
The Kapuso actress says, “Para mas marami tayong kaalaman na matututunan at maaaliw din tayo sa mga istorya na mababasa natin.”
