Stars of the hit medical drama series Abot Kamay na Pangarap shared how they prepared themselves for their respective and challenging roles as doctors in the series.
In an interview with the GMA Regional TV's morning show Mornings With GMA Regional TV, Andre Paras, who plays Doc Luke Antonio, said that they underwent an immersion to familiarize themselves in a hospital setup as well as the equipment they are going to use.
“After that, even though tapos na yung immersion namin... 'Pag may mga eksena kami na kailangan 'yung mga medical terms or anything that has to do with hospital scenes, meron po kaming doctor dun that we can ask for advice or pag may kailangan siyang i-tweak sa script po namin,” he said.
Che Ramos, who plays Doc Katie Enriquez, mentioned that on their scripts there were suggested series they could watch and study.
“So, I watched her and for a little bit, I was watching her and her nuances in the face kasi terror siya. So, she would never raise her voice to assert authority, mababa talaga yung boses, and her face won't move so much,” she said.
Chuckie Dreyfus, who plays the role of Doc Raymund Meneses, added that while the crew and the director did recommend them to watch certain shows, they actually discouraged them to watch other medical series.
“They recommended a few titles na magandang panghugutan namin. We did that as well,” he said.
He added, “Ako, personally, before I entered the show kasi I'm a fan na rin po ng mga medical drama shows, so medyo familiar. You know, 'yung pag kilos ng duktor and all that, so medyo pinag-aralan na rin naman.”
He also expressed how nice it is to have real doctors and surgeons on the set during taping to guide them.
Kazel Kinouchi, on the other hand, said that she studies the script ahead of time.
“I read it ahead of time and aaralin ko rin kung ano'ng atake ang gagawin ko pag hindi level 10 Zoe ba na kasungitan, o level one,” she said.
She added, “Of course, direk naman helps us, kung ano'ng advice niya kung paano gagawin.”
