WATCH: Dingdong Dantes admits to almost giving up during his Special Forces training under Philippine Army

By Jansen Ramos

On Friday, January 3, GMA Network released new videos showing the intense 25-hour Special Forces training of the Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation)'s Alpha Team under the Philippine Army last July 15 and 16, 2019 at the Fort Ramon Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.

Comprising of Dingdong Dantes, Rocco Nacino, Paul Salas, Prince Clemente, Lucho Ayala, and Jon Lucas, the DOTS Ph Alpha Team underwent terse military reception rites, obstacle course, rope course, jungle warfare, small unit tactics, and close-quarters battle.

"Para sa amin kasi importanteng-importanteng na ma-present nang maayos 'yung kasundaluhan natin. Kailangan namin i-internalize 'yon and physically maramdaman kahit papa'no 'yung pinagdaraanan nila," said Dingdong.

The Kapuso Primetime King did not deny the fact that there was a time when feels like giving up early on their military orientation training.

He recalled, "Noong aktwal na naming ginawa, kala ko 'yung reception kainan. Hanep 'yun.

"First time kong ginawa 'yung tusok-ulo. May puntong, 'sandali, ito ba 'yun?' Parang [gusto ko nang umuwi] pero isang buong team kami so hindi pwedeng may susuko talaga."

According to Dingdong, it is the soldiers who joined them that encouraged him to finish the training. He said, "Literal na talagang sinabayan namin sa ilog 'yung ating mga sundalo. So ito pala 'yung reception rites na tinatawag na kahit tapos na 'yung pahirapan, binu-boost pa nila 'yung moral mo."

Dingdong also said, "By doctrine, alam natin what soldiers do pero na-humanize sila no'ng nakakausap namin sila.

"Nalalaman namin 'yung real reason kung bakit nila ginagawa 'to."
