Hula Who: Beauty queen admits the 'ugly truth' about her online sabong addiction

Last month, Olympian EJ Obiena took to Instagram to warn his online followers and fans that he doesn't endorse any gambling services or products.
The pole-vaulting champion said in a statement that he is very careful on choosing any brands he wants to promote.
EJ stressed, “I would like to reassure everyone that I pick and choose very carefully which products/brand I endorse/promote. It's never 'just about the money' but it has to be a product I can believe in; and also a product that doesn't undermine values; and supports a healthy and thriving society.”
This week, a transgender beauty queen admitted on her personal Facebook page that she lost at least five million pesos due to online gambling.
She shared that her addiction started in 2021 when she learned to play online sabong in a certain money app.
Recalling her experience, the beauty queen said, “Well I'm super duper afraid to create this video, but, baka maging help. So, it started in 2021 online sabong in a money app. So, I don't have no idea kung paano siya laruin. So, nakikinood ako dun sa mga kasama ko sa bahay, hanggang sa sinubukan ko na siya.
“Dahil nga wala ako alam, namimili lang ako ng color blue or color red. So, meron o wala. So, kung ano 'yung feeling ko lucky color 'yun lang, kasi wala talaga ako alam sa mga manok.”
She added, “So, habang tumatagal, feeling ko nagiging expert na ako. So kung ang dati, ang tinitingnan ko lang yung color blue or red. Ngayon, tinitingnan ko na kung sino 'yung mabilis 'yung paa. Sino 'yung mahaba 'yung paa?
“Sino 'yung maliksi kapag pinapagtuka sila. So, to cut the long story short naging addict ako sa sabong,” she continued.
“So, ilang buwan ko na siya ginagawa and then halos umabot ng 600K 'yung talo ko.”
