'I Can See You: High Rise Lovers,' a series that challenges the social norms

“High Rise Lovers,” the third installment of the drama anthology I Can See You is set to premiere on GMA Telebabad on Monday, October 12.

In preparation for the much-awaited airing, the lead cast of “High Rise Lovers” Lovi Poe, Tom Rodriguez and Winwyn Marquez sat down with the press to promote the series.

The series tells the story of a married couple, to be played by Tom and Lovi, whose relationship experienced setbacks due to miscommunication and their different goals in life.

During the interview, the Kapuso A-list stars shared that its story is relevant to what's happening to most couples in this day and age.

“What I find interesting about my character is that she is a career woman but she gets into this dilemma of choosing between saving her relationship and getting the career that she wants,” Lovi said, whose character is a goal-oriented and workaholic woman who continuously strives for success.

“I think that's one thing everyone can relate to kasi most of us are actually having trouble trying to balance or juggle both,” she added.

On the other hand, Winwyn, who plays the role of a free-spirited, passionate and charming singer, said that the “younger ones” will relate to her character.

“Si Ysabel kasi, she's very free-spirited and she doesn't like commitment. She just wants to have fun. Iniisip niya rin 'yung sarili niya.

“I think a lot of younger ones can connect with this character. At the same time, deep inside naman kasi we also want to find love. Paggising natin sa umaga gusto na rin natin na may kasama tayo.

“So I think I'm going to connect sa mga bata siguro lalo na 'yung mga takot magkaroon ng commitment,” she said.

Tom, who portrays the character of a down-on-his-luck contractor, shared that the series will challenge the social standards about how couples should live.

“For me, I really find it interesting. 'Yung character ni Lovi is the modern woman na challenging the social norms na dapat 'yung lalaki 'yung haligi ng tahanan, siya 'yung nagpo-provide.

“Pero paano kung hindi 'yun 'yung sitwasyon? Ako, I didn't think that I would be able to relate kay Luis na hindi siya 'yung breadwinner sa setup at situation nila ni Samantha na how do you deal with the pressure of trying to provide,” he said.

Meanwhile, also joining the star-studded cast are Teresa Loyzaga and Divine Tetay.

Directed by Monti Parungao, I Can See You: High Rise Lovers will premiere on October 12, only on GMA Telebabad.
