Ruru Madrid training for lolong 2


Ruru Madrid feels more connected to his roots as he continues training in Filipino martial arts.

Primetime action hero Ruru Madrid continues his training in Filipino martials arts.

He remains under the tutelage of Filipino martial arts expert Ronnie Royce Base.

In a new video, Ruru shared his recent session which shows him handling a wooden practice sword and some arnis sticks.

He goes through drills for hand to hand combat and some kicks, and also does push-ups with the arnis sticks.

"Embracing the art of movement, discipline, and tradition.

"Every strike, every flow, every lesson brings me closer to the roots.

"Pugay sa mga ninuno. 🇵🇭," the actor wrote on his post.

Ruru Madrid is preparing for the return of 2022's most watched TV show Lolong where he plays the titular Lolong, a young man who is able to communicate with a giant crocodile named Dakila.

The actor himself is very involved in the early stages of production as he has sat in on several meetings with Lolong's creative team.

There has yet to be an official announcement of the show's return, but key people from production have been sharing their preparations for its comeback.

GMA Public Affairs program manager Mark Norella, who has previously served as Lolong's executive producer, has posted about several creative meetings, castings, promo and marketing meetings, and martial arts training on his personal social media pages.

Aside from Lolong, Ruru Madrid is also busy with the movie Green Bones where he will star alongside Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo.

Green Bones is the entry of GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs to the 50th edition of Metro Manila Film Festival in December 2024.

Green Bones will be under the helm of award-winning director Zig Dulay and is written by National Artist for Films and Broadcast Arts Ricky Lee, and 2023 MMFF Best Screenplay winner Anj Atienza.
