There is definitely no denying the nationwide popularity of the hit historical portal drama Maria Clara at Ibarra as the show's stars got an overwhelming response from the Cebu crowd at a Sinulog mall show.

Maria Clara at Ibarra stars Julie Anne San Jose David Licauco, Andrea Torres, and Juancho Trivino performed for fans at the Ayala Center Cebu, where fans had gathered early in the morning to get great positions for the 5 p.m. show.

Aside from singing songs, the stars also gamely went into the crowd and take selfies with the gathered fans. David Licauco, who portrays Fidel in Maria Clara at Ibarra, was a particular hit and elicited frenzied screams from the crowd.

The Maria Clara at Ibarra stars were just the first salvo of Kapuso stars performing at mall shows at Cebu this Sinulog weekend. Also set to appear in shows later today at 5 p.m. and tomorrow afternoon is the cast of Voltes V: Legacy, namely Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho.

Miguel was already a hit at an Ati-Atihan event held last January 12, with two of his fans agreeing to split a jacket he threw into the crowd so they could both go home with a remembrance.

In a post on her Facebook page, fan Leona Albelar said that she decided to split the jacket she caught with another fan, John Romel, as they were both able to snatch it. In the comments to her post, Leona also “complained” about not being able to sleep because Miguel's jacket smelled so good.

Tomorrow, January 15, Miguel the Voltes V: Legacy cast will also take part in the Sinulog Grand Parade as part of the Kapuso Float.
