Mars Pa More: Recycling projects you can do at home

By Racquel Quieta

Want to help save your environment in your own special way? You can start by recycling old things found in your home.

Recycling reduces the need to extract and use new raw materials such as paper and wood that come from trees. It also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which in turn helps address climate change.

So, before you throw out old or unused things from your garage, read on and find out if you can still create something new and useful from them and simultaneously help save Mother Earth.

1) Stiletto Planter

Attention, Plantitas! You can still make use of old stilettos that are accumulating dust in your shoe rack. The stylish stilettos that you use to wear on your feet can now be used to house your precious baby succulents.

All you'll need to do this recycling project are stilettos, soil, and a plant.

Learn how to set up your stiletto planter from Klaudia Koronel, Leandro Baldemor, and Mars Pa More hosts Camille Prats and Suzi Entrata-Abrera.

2) Tennis Set Glam Mirror, Memo Board, and Key Holder

Got a tennis set that you don't use anymore? Repurpose them by making a glam mirror, memo board, and a key holder.

Here are the materials you'll need: tennis racket, mirror, silicon sealer, note pad, wooden pins, tennis ball, metal hook, glue gun, cutter, and googley eyes.

Learn how to create a glam mirror, memo board, and key holder using a tennis racket and tennis ball from Arnel Ignacio, Boobsie, and Mars Suzi and Camille.

3) Tire Umbrella Holder

Turn that old tire sitting in your garage into a useful umbrella holder. All you'll need are super glue, saw, a tire, couplings, and two pieces of wood.

Watch Sef Cadayona, Arny Ross, and Mars Suzi and Camille create an umbrella holder from an old tire.

4) Umbrella Skirt

That old umbrella of yours that has a cute print can be transformed into a trendy skirt.

To create an umbrella skirt, you need to have an umbrella, ribbon, velcro, scissors, and a sewing machine.

Inah de Belen and Klea Pineda showed Mars Suzi and LJ Reyes how to turn an old umbrella into a cute skirt in Mars Pa More's segment, Handy Mars.

These are pretty exciting to do, right? So, take your first step in living a more eco-friendly lifestyle and get into recycling.
