Derrick Monasterio demonstrates basketball drills for kids

By Racquel Quieta

Want your kids to put down their gadgets and do some physical activities for a change? How about you teach them how to do basketball drills?

As people around the world are encouraged to stay at home as much as possible, and with many students worldwide adapting to distance learning, there's definitely less opportunity for your kids to stay active.

Plus, it's extremely challenging to win your children's attention over online games, social media, and the internet.

So, you really need to make working out as fun and interesting as possible. One way of doing this is by getting them into sports and simultaneously get them to do certain exercises.

Kapuso hunk Derrick Monasterio is a self-confessed fitness buff and sporty guy. And during his recent guesting on Mars Pa more, he shared some basketball drills that your kids can try at home.

Essentially, Derrick demonstrated how to do four types of dribbling:

1. Crossovers
2. Number 8 dribble
3. Behind-the-back dribble
4. Between-the-legs dribble

If you're not familiar yet, basketball players usually do stretches, warm-ups, and basketball drills before every practice game.

Doing these drills will not only improve the way they play basketball, but also double as a workout routine that'll help them build the strength and stamina that they need for the actual game.

Watch and learn how to do basketball drills from Kapuso hunk Derrick Monasterio in the Mars Pa More video above.
