Five Things Women can Learn from Lally

My Husband’s Lover’s Lally Agatep-Soriano:

1. Stay calm and classy.

Real women don’t throw tantrums. The world is not a marketplace and if somebody has wronged you, it is never, ever going to work to your advantage if you lose your cool. It’s okay to lose consciousness when you see your husband with another guy, but recover from the initial reaction of hatred and shock. Be cool and composed when encountering the third party. It will avoid complicated scenarios, and the odds will be in your favor because you will earn everyone’s respect.

2. Move on in style.

If the love of your life loves somebody else, move on and focus on loving yourself. Have you ever seen Lally looking like a mess even when her problems were consuming her deep inside? Keep a beautiful, presentable and positive aura on the outside. Eventually, you will start feeling better emotionally. Look at yourself in the mirror. Put on the kind of make-up that works for you. Pick the best shade of lipstick. Style your hair in a different way. Wear a form-flattering dress and fierce high heels. You know what they say, the higher the heels, the closer to God!

3. Don’t be a pushover.

Acceptance is the key. Do not force yourself on someone who only sees you as a best friend. You are too precious to waste your time on people who do not waste their time on you. Instead, allot your time for things and people that matter, like your own children or your immediate family. Surround yourself with positive people, like Dave, in Lally’s case. Have a heart-to-heart talk with a friend. Bond over coffee or dinner. Enjoy life.

4. You can still be the best Mommy even without Daddy.

Your husband can no longer spend time with you and the kids 24/7 like he used to. Let it be, and make the most of the moment by being the best mom ever. Of course, it’s not easy. The longing will still be there. The pain will still be there, but women are made to be independent. Teaching your kids to be independent will make them stronger individuals too. Believe in yourself. Be inspired by your kids’ love for you and vice versa.

5. Empower yourself.

You are more than just your husband’s wife. You are your own person, so embrace your individuality. Identify your strengths and enhance them. Identify your weaknesses and think of ways to change them. If baking cupcakes is your thing, take lessons and maybe you could even make a business out of it. If like Lally, you left your college course unfinished, go back to school. It is never too late to learn. Chase after your dreams. Be hard working. If you explore your horizons and realize your potentials, you can own the universe.
