Kai says this is not a sad or bitter song, but a moving on song.

For the first time, Kai Atienza performed her band Analemma's song "Sold and Bound" in public on the Playlist stage.

She admitted that the self-penned song is about an ex-boyfriend from two years ago.

"This person had a very significant part in my life. Who I am now, ang laki ng contribution niya dun," she said.

Though they haven't been in contact for years, she admits that she occasionally checks on him through social media.

"Sometimes kasi, I stalk him just to check on him. 'Is he doing okay?' Because you know, if you had a really deep connection with the person for a really long time and then you suddenly split or part ways, sometimes you really wonder kung ano nangyayari sa kanya 'di ba?" she opened up.

She also recognized that this is just a phase that she'll eventually get over from.

"I know it's natural pero alam ko rin na at some point, mapapagod din ako. Magsasawa rin ako. That's why... [sa] second verse, it says, 'let me keep you in a faraway land. Watch you in a distance and turn into a supernova.' You know, a supernova... It explodes and then medyo matagal 'yung pag-reach ng light pero at some point in time, mawawala rin 'yan, mag-co-collapse din siya," she added.

She considers the composition as a moving on song, which is more uplifting than sad.

"Sold and Bound is actually a moving on song. It's moving on na knowing still that those people from your past or those things that happened in the past still affect you. You can't disregard their presence in your life... It's not a sad song. It's not a bitter song. It's just [that] this is life," she concluded.
