Leanne and Naara duo hopes to leave a mark on OPM
Leanne and Naara are the featured artists of the Playlist this week.
Leanne Mamonong and Naara Acueza are only in their early 20s but they’ve written and released a song that has penetrated into the overseas market and have identified that they want to make an impact in the OPM industry.
It was only last year when they officially became a singing duo, but their song Again has already hit over 3.5 million plays on Spotify.
“[We’re] not sure [how it happened but basta], it was fast… [Nagulat kami and we were wondering] bakit. [But we were glad] people accepted it really well. We didn’t expect it at all,” Leanne said.
It’s only the beginning for them and they have a lot in store for their supporters and those who haven’t heard of them yet.
“A lot of new music [is coming up] and actually, a different genre [that’s] very far from Again… [We are] venturing into a different kind of sound na and [Again was] a good starting point,” she added.
They’re not sure if the next songs they’ll release will make it as big as the previous song did, but they remain committed to their objective of sharing their passion and expressing themselves using the gifts that have been given them.
“[We want to] leave a legacy sa industry of music na they’ll remember us [for]… We just gotta appreciate [OPM as a whole and] be an advocate of [making people aware of how good it can be,” Naara declared.
Leanne and Naara are the featured artists of the Playlist this week. They performed special renditions of Again and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
