Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo takes on the role of the Japanese Imperial Army's head, Col. Yuta Saitoh, the main villain in the hit GMA Prime series Pulang Araw.

Dennis was formally announced to join the popular Kapuso series in an exclusive media conference on Tuesday, August 6. This marks his first major “kontrabida” role, adding another level to his acting career.

Before the announcement, the award-winning Kapuso actor shared in an interview that he waited for this kind of role that would challenge his acting abilities.

“Matagal ko na rin hinihintay itong ganitong klaseng project, ganitong kabigat na character ngayon naman as a kontrabida.

“May konting pressure pero mas doon ako sa importansya sa pagkakaroon ko ng challenge bilang artista. Sa rami [na] ng nagawa ko, kailangan ko ng isang mabigat na role na mag-iisip ako at pag-iisipan ko bawat kilos, bawat galaw, bawat dialogue, excited ako sa ganun,” Dennis said.

Dennis is set to join the stellar cast of Pulang Araw alongside his fellow Kapuso stars Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards.

Pulang Araw has been capturing the attention of viewers both on-air and online since its world TV premiere on July 29.

The series continues to become a trending topic online for its production quality, superb acting performances by the cast, and exciting storyline.

This family drama follows the lives of four childhood friends: Adelina (Barbie Forteza), Teresita (Sanya Lopez), Hiroshi (David Licauco), and Eduardo (Alden Richards). Their dreams, friendship, and resilience are tested as World War II begins and Japanese forces invade the Philippines.
