Paano napili ang cast ng 'Running Man Philippines'?
In just a few days the cast of the biggest reality-game show this 2022, Running Man Philippines, will be heading to South Korea for the exciting shoot of the first season of the program.
But before they compete in several intense and funny games and missions in South Korea, the members of the entertainment press got to chat with Mikael Daez, Glaiza De Castro, Ruru Madrid, Buboy Villar, Kokoy de Santos, Lexi Gonzales, and Angel Guardian on Friday, June 24, in an online media conference. The cast shared their thoughts and preparations for this colossal project between GMA Network and SBS Korea.
One of the many pieces of information the press wanted to learn about the show was how GMA Network chose the seven cast members.
GMA-7 BDD2 consultant Bang Arespacochaga shared in her interview with Rose Garcia what transpired before GMA Network announced the seven main cast members, who will be part Running Man Philippines.
“'Running Man' is a franchise, so mero'n talagang character or personality na ang bawat member na pipiliin. Kumbaga doon sa bible ng 'Running Man' pinili talaga sila specifically for the character like there's a captain.” Miss Bang said.
She continued, “So, if you are familiar with the show may ganun. So, talagang madami kaming [considerations] for every role [they're] playing.
“And sila 'yung napili [ng] majority at saka of course approved ng top management. Ang creative team, ni-recommend sa top management and top management approved. Kasi, they all [agree na] bumagay naman sila talaga sa role na pini-play nila, kasi may role playing ang lahat. Panoorin n'yo 'yan kasi may kaniya-kaniyang roles silang gagampanan.”
Meanwhile, Senior Program Manager Enri Calaycay considered this project as a great opportunity for the production team to learn from the best practices of the production group handling Running Man on SBS Korea.
She told GMANetwork.com, “Very interesting 'yung meetings pa lang namin. Nandoon pa lang kami sa exchange of [ideas], nasa pre-prod stage pa lang kami actually, 'yun pa lang. Exciting na!
“Ramdam na namin kung ano 'yung puwede mangyari, 'yung malalaking puwede mangyari. Pagka nagsho-shoot na kami dito.”
“We met the head writer of 'Running Man' Korea once and doon pa lang mero'n ka na makukuha na, 'Oh, okay! So, that's what they do pala to make sure na maganda 'yung content'”
Miss Enri added that the knowledge they will gain from working with SBS Korea will also help them improve the quality of the Kapuso programs in the future.
“So, we are very excited [pati] 'yung creative team din dito ng 'Running Man Philippines,' we are all very excited.”
“Hopefully marami kami talaga matutunan, hindi lang namin mae-enjoy 'yung experience, 'yung pagshu-shoot, but it's the exchange of the ideas and the learnings that we will get from this project na mai-apply namin.”
Away from family
During the online media conference, all the cast members were visibly excited to shoot in South Korea for two months. But it will also be difficult for them since they will be spending time away from their families.
For celebrity dad Buboy Villar, who has two kids Vlanz and George, he stated that bonding with his family before he flies out is a top priority.
The vlogger-actor noted, “Mas fino-focus ko lang siyempre, daddy din ako, so sinusulit ko 'yung family time.
“Kakauwi lang ng panganay ko [Vlanz], so talagang mami-miss ko siya, kasi kung kelan naman siya nakauwi galing Amerika, tsaka naman 'yung pag-alis ko. So ganun talaga, sacrifice muna ngayon. At siyempre 'Running Man' to, gusto ko lang naman dito maitawid ko at mapasaya namin 'yung mga tao na sumusuporta dito sa 'Running Man' 'yun ang pinaka-goal talaga namin dito.”
For his part, Kapuso primetime star Ruru Madrid made a promise to all the loyal fans of the original Running Man series that all of the Pinoy cast members will do their best to deliver and give them a good show.
“Kami po ay sobrang masaya na kami po ang napili para po dito sa programa po na ito. And pinapangako rin namin sa inyo na kung papaano po kayo napasaya ng original 'Running Man,' gagawin po namin lahat ng makakaya namin para magawa namin 'yun at the sametime makapagbigay ng entertainment sa lahat po ng manonood.”
Angel Guardian seconded what Ruru said. The actress-singer added, “Samahan n'yo kami sa journey na ito lahat po kami sobrang excited na pumunta sa Korea, para gawin lahat ng mission and excited din ako sa bonding ng cast and sana excited din kayo. Gaya po ng sinabi ng lahat ibibigay namin 'yung best namin.”
