Matt Lozano wants to write songs for his 'Voltes V: Legacy' co-star Crystal Paras
Matt Lozano can't deny that he's at his happiest right now.
While waiting for the next leg of the lock-in taping of his first big break Voltes V: Legacy, the Kapuso actor-singer indulges himself in writing songs.
In fact, the studio version of his self-penned single "Kwarto" will be released soon under GMA Music.
Aside from "Kwarto," Matt has composed several songs already that he hopes to be materialized in the future.
He himself sings his original compositions.
But when asked if he wants to write songs for other singers, Matt swiftly nodded his head.
He shared in an interview with GMA showbiz reporter Aubrey Carampel, "Gusto rin po masubukan kasi madami na kong songs na nasulat. Pero since lalaki ako, usually pang lalaki 'yung mga kanta ko. Pero puwede naman nating i-tweak nang konti kasi why not, para mapakanta natin sa mga singers natin na babae dito sa GMA."
Matt particularly expressed desire to pen songs for his long-time friend and Voltes V: Legacy co-star Crystal Paras who is also a singer.
He continued, "Napaka-versatile ng kanyang boses and nagta-try kaming dalawa mag-cover, mag-collab.
"Matagal na po kasi kaming magkakilala even before pa ko mag-sign with GMA. Matagal na kaming magkakilala dahil sa music scene din. Maliit lang din naman ang mundo ng music."
If things go as planned, Crystal will be Matt's first muse.
The singer-songwriter went on, "Wala pa kong napakanta na song sa kanya at kung magustuhan naman niya why not 'di ba? Siyempre, gusto ko iba naman 'yung kumanta ng mga iba kong likha. Iba rin sa pakiramdam 'yun e, kasi sanay ako na ako ang kumakanta ng sarili kong kanta so exciting din na magawa ako 'yun."
Music is one factor why Matt and Crystal easily clicked. Not to mention, they are also both products of musical competitions in Eat Bulaga. Matt was hailed as the grand winner of the noontime show's "Spogify" while Crystal joined the program's singing contest "Music Hero: The Vocal Battle."
In fact, their good relationship off-cam led them to their first team-up in the highly anticipated Voltes V: Legacy.
Matt shared, "Sobrang excited ako sa mga eksenang kukunan namin kasi kaming dalawa nga ni Crystal Paras ang magkakatambalan dito sa susunod na lock-in taping and very excited ako dahil ang tagal ko nang kakilala si Crystal and ngayon lang kami magkaka-work nang ganito. Love interest niya ko do'n."
According to Matt, even though they already known each other for so long, he still must not be complacent.
"Nagkasama na kami sa workshops before and sobrang komportable ako sa kanya. Feeling ko kahit na close kami nito baka biglang magkaiba kami ng [style sa acting] kasi kilala ko siya and kampante ako. Baka mamaya bigla sumara 'yung instrument ko."
However, with the help of Sparkle acting coach Ana Feleo, Matt is confident that he and Crystal will deliver their roles well in Voltes V: Legacy.
"No'ng tinulungan kami ni Ms. Ana Feleo, sobrang naging maluwag. Happy ako sa mga performance namin sa workshop kaya lalo akong na-excite sa mga eksena namin kasi nararamdaman ko kung ano 'yung flow ng work naming dalawa."
Matt then said, "Na-e-eexcite na 'ko lalo, gustung-gusto ko na mag-lock-in."
Matt will play Big Bert of the Voltes 5 team in the live-action adaptation of the popular '70s Japanese anime.
