Kapuso actor Matt Lozano is making big waves, literally, as he was announced to star in the highly-anticipated live-action series 'Voltes V: Legacy.'
Matt was revealed to be playing the lovable role of Robert “Big Bert” Armstrong, outmaneuvering the many auditionees in 2020 for the iconic role.
In an interview with '24 Oras' reporter Cata Tibayan, the actor shared that he resonates with his role.
He said, “Si Big Bert sobrang masiyahin na tao, pero at the back of his mind nandun ang lungkot. Alam naman ng 'Voltes V' fans na ang Armstrong brothers ay may dinadalang lungkot dahil sa pagkawala ng ama nila.
“Pareho kami na kahit nalulungkot ay gumagawa ng way para mapasaya lahat, 'di lamang ang sarili ko kundi 'yung mga nakapaligid sa akin.”
In preparation for his role, Matt has been documenting his journey by doing intense full-body workouts and learning arnis during the quarantine which he featured in his vlog.
“Alam naman ng lahat na si Big Bert ay isang martial artist at napakadisiplanadong tao rin,” he mentioned in the same interview.
“Bago ako nag-audition, I hired a grandmaster of arnis, which is tinuturuan n'ya ako ngayon na gumamit ng long stick--na favorite weapon ni Big Bert.”
