Suzette Doctolero answers 'Voltes V: Legacy' love story twist
While many fans have expressed excitement over the Voltes V: Legacy mega trailer over the holidays, some netizens have noticed that the series has a love story twist which they called out as not being part of the original anime before.
However, series head writer Suzette Doctolero answered the netizens, saying that since the anime was made with kids in mind, no love story elements were shown.
“Wala talagang love story sa cartoons na ang target ay kids. Sinong lokong “cartoons” maker ang gagawa nun?” she said.
She added that by doing a live adaptation of the story that targets audiences of all ages, they made the characters more “humanized” and incorporated a romance element in the story.
“Bilang ang REYALIDAD ay mga kabataang guwapo at magaganda sina Steve, Big Bert, Mark at Jamee kaya yes, may love story. Na hindi malaking part sa kuwento pero mayroon. Imposibleng wala!”
The trailer showed Elle Villanueva asking Ysabel Ortega (Jamie Robinson) to stay away from Steve (Miguel Tanfelix). The scene shows a possible love triangle between the characters, something that is not shown in the anime.
Suzette reiterated that there is a difference between live action and anime.
“Kasama sa pagsusulat ng live adaptations ang adjustment na gawin silang tao as much as possible. Tao, okey? Hindi cartoons,” she added.
She then called out bashers of the series to watch the series first before judging it as netizens have done the same to previous series she wrote before.
“Karamihan ng shows ko, nauuna ang mga husga tapos pag palabas na, nawawala na ang mga mema. Hay naku, 2023 na, magbago na,” she added.
Recently, comedy genius Michael V. rebuffed bashers of the series and had this to say, “Kung hindi talaga kayo fan, wala nang magpapasaya sa inyo kahit sino at kahit kailan.”
He added, “Marami pa rin ang mga nagpapanggap at hindi matanggap na kaya nang gawin 'to ng network with the right tools, right people and a ton of passion.”
