Matt Lozano builds strong relationship with 'Voltes V: Legacy' co-stars
After months of taping for live-action series 'Voltes V: Legacy,' Matt Lozano said that he already considers his co-stars a real team.
In this series, Matt plays the role of Big Bert Armstrong. He is joined by Miguel Tanfelix and Raphael Landicho, who play the role of his brothers Steve and Little John, respectively; Ysabel Ortega as Jamie Robinson; and Radson Flores as Mark Gordon. As Voltes team, they will be the pilots to the mecha Voltes V.
In an interview on the 'Updated with Nelson Canlas' podcast, Matt said that he and his co-stars are already past awkwardness and have becomec closer to each other.
“Palagi kong ka-chat si Little John kasi, siyempre, kasama 'yon sa preparation. Kailangan kumportable ka sa mga co-actors mo para walang awkwardness pagdating sa set. And 'yon naman, with Radson, with Miguel and Ysabel, isa lang ang masasabi ko talagang para kaming team,” he said.
Matt said that they've become close enough in the set that they are ready to help each even off cam.
“Sobrang komportable namin sa isa't isa to the point na nagtutulungan kami. For example, siyempre, hindi naman maiiwasan minsan sobrang pagod ka na, pero nandiyan ang team mo to lift you up,” he added.
Matt said that there were times when what they were asked to do is difficult for them, especially the stunts and the fighting scenes. Even though he trained in martial arts, they need to be executed perfectly for the camera.
“Hindi pupuwede na martial arts lang 'yong alam mo, e. Kailangang mayroon kang knowledge pagdating sa cinematic moves,” he said.
Despite the difficulties they experienced while doing the series, Matt said that being told that they did a great job was the best reward. Not only that but being able to video call and speak with his cast members is also a great reward for him.
Meanwhile, Matt admits that he misses his co-stars during breaks from taping.
“Ako po, sobrang ano ako, sobrang grabe 'yong pagka-miss ko sa kanila. Kasi, siyempre, minsan isang buwan kayo magkakasama 'tapos parang pamilya na rin kasi 'yong turingan namin, e.
“'Pag umuwi kami sa mga kaniya-kaniya naming pamilya, e, hindi maiiwasan na talagang mami-miss n'yo 'yong isa't isa," he said.
