Facebook Messenger rolls out screenshot notification feature for disappearing messages

Facebook Messenger will soon add another layer of security and privacy to chats by notifying users whenever someone takes a screenshot of disappearing messages in a Secret Conversation.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this new major feature in a Facebook post, saying, “New update for end-to-end encrypted Messenger chats so you get a notification if someone screenshots a disappearing message. We're also adding GIFs, stickers, and reactions to encrypted chats too.”
End-to-end encryption (E2EE) prevents possible eavesdroppers--like telecom providers and Internet providers--from gaining access to your conversation.
This means that with E2EE, these potential eavesdroppers won't be able to read or secretly modify the contents of your chat. Only the true sender and recipient can see the messages in an encrypted chat.
Currently, Facebook Messenger chats are not end-to-end encrypted by default. Users still need to turn on this feature to secure the chat.
Soon, once the rollout is completed, users will be notified once the other user takes a screenshot of their conversation.
Plus, conversations will be more dynamic with the addition of GIFS, stickers, and reactions to encrypted chats.
The Verge also reports that aside from the aforementioned new features, users would also soon be able to use the long-press function in encrypted chats to reply to or forward a message.
Encrypted chats will also soon support verified badges, so users can easily identify authentic accounts.
Moreover, Meta plans to make all chats encrypted by 2023, once it combines Messenger and Instagram conversations.
