It was in a “sala”, the Filipino word for living room or the household common room where Neth Macam, Ronald Villadar and Fourth Dayag decided to film themselves playing a song 7 years ago.

Then the pandemic happened.

In that same sala, Neth wrote an album’s worth of songs and invited Ronald and Fourth to bring his lyrical poetry to life with Ronald’s jazzy bass lines and melodies and Fourth’s aggressive and rock-solid drumbeats.

The trio decided to record their songs at Mindscapes Lab Studios where they piqued the interest of its producer/arranger, Rigil Borromeo, who graciously added his guitar parts to their music.  This prompted the trio to invite him to the band, to which he responded, “I thought you’d never ask.”

SALA was formed in February 2023.

Like the household common room, SALA brings a refreshing and relaxing twist to songs about love, life and laughs, with each member’s diverse music influences which are sure to provide a chill listening experience.
