Jessica first performed “Ako Naman” as her victory song after winning The Clash Season 3.
A few weeks after her win, however, she stayed away from the spotlight.
She admitted that the song, which is an original composition by Asia’s Romantic Balladeer and Kapuso star Christian Bautista tugged at her heartstrings as she can deeply relate to it.
She recalled during her virtual media conference, “Para sa akin nare-relate ko siya sa dream ko. ‘Yun nga, parang ang tagal ko naghintay bago ako sumali sa isang malaking competition like The Clash.
"Kasi pinapangarap ko lang talaga noon tapos marami rin ako ni-risk sa The Clash like iniwanan ko ‘yung work ko sa Cebu, ‘yung family ko at sa pandemic ngayon, nag-risk talaga ako na pumunta ng Maynila kahit takot ako.”
Now she can claim that her relentless dreaming and hard work have paid off as she joins the roster of GMA Music artists with “Ako Naman” as her first single.
“Ang saya ko po, as in. Ang saya ko po.
"Actually, lahat po ‘pag may dumadating po ngayon na like nanalo ako, ngayon recording artist na, parang lahat ng nangyayari sa akin po, I’m super grateful po talaga sa lahat.
"Kahit na simpleng bagay o malaki po, pinapasalamat ko po talaga ‘yun sa Panginoon, and I’m very happy po talaga na ‘di makapaniwala na may kanta na ako. As in grabe talaga.”
Jessica’s “Ako Naman” is now available for download and streaming via digital stores worldwide.
