Jessica Villarubin to release new single "Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin"

Kapuso singer Jessica Villarubin is making a comeback with a new song under GMA Music.

In a press interview she shared, "Ang title po ng bago kong song na ilalabas is 'Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin,' composed by Sir Vehnee Saturno.

Jessica is reviving a Vehnee Saturno classic, bringing new energy to the timeless love song. "I'm very thankful and honored po na si Sir Vehnee ang gumawa ng kantang ito. Alam natin na isa siya sa mga kilalang composers. I'm very excited and happy to share this song with everyone po."

While the song is filled with emotions and undying loyalty, Jessica confesses that she had a hard time relating to the song.

"Actually, right now, hindi ako nakaka-relate sa song kasi hindi ako in love. Sa mga friends ko na in love, this is for you guys. Siguro naka-relate ako dahil before na-try ko naman ma-in love. Siguro 'yun 'yung naging hugot ko before, 'yung past kong mga relationships."

Nonetheless, she is happily dedicating the song to different couples in love.

"Siguro ma-dedicate ko ito for LDR [long-distance relationship] couples na malayo sa isa't isa. Hindi hadlang ang distance when you love someone. Para rin ito sa mga LDR diyan," Jessica said.

She then opened up about a past love that was challenged by distance.

"Naka-relate po ako kasi meron po akong past relationship na malayo po kami sa isa't isa. Siguro 'yun po ang naging hugot ko.

Jessica added, "Hindi naman kami nagkarelasyon, siguro MU (mutual understanding) doon ako kumuha ng hugot, ng emosyon, para ma-feel talaga ng tao na 'yun ang nafi-feel ko.

"Malayo kami sa isa't isa, tapos mahirap talaga kapag 'yung loved one mo nasa malayo. Hindi ko rin naman nakalimutan 'yung feeling na in love ako. Minsan iniimagine ko na lang din na in love ako."

One of her biggest challenges in recording the song was giving the song a refreshing feel with her own powerful voice.

"Kasi this song is a revival so paano namin siya bibigyan ng bagong face kasi na-release na siya before, paano namin siya pagagandahin, kasi ang ganda talaga ng kanta. Happy ako kasi si Sir Vehnee Saturno, marami na po siyang mga kanta at artist na pinasikat. I'm hoping for the best."
